High Dose Vitamin C and Cancer Treatment

High doses of Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) aid in hydrogen peroxide production inside and outside the cell. A normal functioning cell uses hydrogen peroxide for specific metabolic needs and whatever is not used is then converted into oxygen and water. Cancer cells, however, are not able to convert hydrogen peroxide into oxygen and water, causing the cell to be oxidized and killed off. Thus, the increase in hydrogen peroxide production caused by high doses of Vitamin C, means normal functioning cells are unharmed, while cancer cells are challenged at the metabolic level.
